Accies cruise into quarter final as early goal sinks battling Wasps

It was another big night for Alloa Athletic in the Scottish Cup last night as Alloa had only 10 first team players available for selection. Alloa fielded young under 19's keeper Paul Ferguson and two others with Ross Muir starting as a lone striker up front. Hamilton dominated the match and were ahead after 13 minutes when Mark McLaughlin headed in a Juanjo corner. Hamilton then got a soft penalty when Rudi Torres tripped over Chris Townsley to give the full-timers the chance to double the lead. Alex Neil converted the penalty although Ferguson guessed the right way. Alloa were then denied a penalty when John Grant was tripped in the same way as Torres but no penalty was given. The game was settled when ex-Alloa player Brown Ferguson found the net in the 89th minute to put his team through to the quarter finals against either Airdrie Utd or Dundee at New Dougles Park.
