Alloa 1-0 Livingston- Match Report

Simmons hands Alloa perfect start

Stephen Simmons scored the only goal of the game as newly-promoted Alloa beat 10-man Livingston 1-0.

Scottish Championship new boys Alloa had a great chance to take the lead in the 17th minute when Graeme Holmes put fellow striker Andrew Kirk through on goal but his shot was straight at Livingston goalkeeper Darren Jamieson.

The Wasps went 1-0 up on the brink of half time when Simmons rifled home from 10 yards out after good work from Kevin Cawley.

Marc McNulty had a good chance for an equaliser in the second half but his close-range shot was hit straight at Scott Bain.

Things went from bad to worse for Livingston in the 68th minute when midfielder Ross Docherty was sent off for a second bookable offence and Alloa comfortably saw out the rest of the game to earn all three points.
