Alloa close the gap
Alloa bounced back from their defeat at Stranraer last time out to beat Forfar 2-1 and trim Queen of the South's advantage at the top of the Irn-Bru Second Division to six points.
Midfielder Ryan McCord was the Hornets' hero with two goals inside the first 20 minutes and, although Christopher Templeman reduced the arrears before the interval, Paul Hartley's team closed out the victory as both sides finished the match with 10 men.
McCord gave Alloa a flying start when he clinically found the bottom corner from the edge of the box in the fourth minute.
From a similar position, McCord lashed high past Jack Hamilton 16 minutes later and Forfar were reeling.
But the Loons were back into the contest when Templeman slotted home James Craigen's pass from 12 yards.
The frustrations of a cagey second period boiled over in the final minute when Alloa's Graeme Holmes and Forfar's Stephen Tulloch became embroiled in an altercation that saw them both dismissed.
