Four-star Alloa battle past Montrose

Alloa secured all three points as two second-half goals earned them a deserved 4-2 victory over Montrose.

The Wasps had twice taken the lead in the first half, only to be pegged back by the resilient visitors.

Ryan McCord got Alloa off to a flying start when he netted a penalty after just four minutes, but Alan Campbell scored from the edge of the area to equalise for Montrose.

Alloa were back in front just two minutes later, a 20-yard strike from Kevin Cawley restoring their advantage, but again Montrose drew level when Martin Boyle volleyed home from close range.

The Wasps managed to edge in front for a third time through Ben Gordon's 51st-minute header from six yards, and they sealed their victory when Cawley netted his second goal of the game from 18 yards with 11 minutes left.
