Despite an early flurry of activity from Alloa, it was Forfar who were in total control of this match.

In the 11th minute, Forfar had a great opportunity to open the scoring when Barry Sellars combined well with Steven Bonar, but Sellars' fierce shot went over the bar.

Alloa tried to get back into the match with efforts from Andy Brown and Ross Hamilton, saved by Francois Dubourdeau in the Forfar goal.

Play became scrappy, and this combined with a poor performance from referee Colin Hardie led to some disputed decisions Alloa's Andy Brown was shown a yellow card for an offence that only the referee saw.

Forfar were rewarded for their domination of the match in the 44th minute when Sellars was on hand to snatch the opener when he connected with a David McClune pass and fired home past a helpless Gary McGlynn in the Alloa goal.

Early in the second half, Forfar had an opportunity to extend their lead when ex-Alloa striker Martin Cameron headed over the bar six yards out from a Sellars' cross.

Alloa fought their way back in to the match and brought on their three substitutes to freshen up their attack. Substitute Graeme Brown was involved in the incident that led to their 85th minute equaliser. Brown was running in on goal, and was brought crashing to the ground by the Forfar goalkeeper, and this time the referee had no hesitation in awarding the spot-kick. Robert Sloan stepped up and slotted the ball past Dubourdeau.

Alloa once again failed to take full points form their bogey team Forfar, with four defeats and two draws in their last six meetings
