Alloa end losing run

Kevin Cawley's third league goal of the season helped Alloa to a 2-0 win at Cowdenbeath.

The Wasps ended a run of two consecutive defeats and went ahead through Cawley after 18 minutes who lashed in Ryan McCord's pass.

Andy Kirk doubled the advantage just after the half hour mark when he headed home Jonathan Tiffoney's cross.

Cowdenbeath were handed a golden opportunity to reduce the arrears just two minutes into the second half after goalkeeper Scott Bain fouled Greg Stewart.

But substitute Marc McKenzie, who had only just entered the fray, saw his spot-kick saved by Bain.

Tiffoney blazed wide when well placed after 70 minutes and Jon Robertson did likewise seven minutes later for Cowdenbeath, who couldn't find a way past Alloa.
