Holmes grabs away win

Graeme Holmes' first-half goal was enough to give Alloa a 1-0 victory over East Fife.

The visitors dominated in the opening stages and it wasn't long before they found themselves in front. Alloa midfielder Holmes made it 1-0 in the 32nd minute of the game when he blasted home from close range after a scramble in the box.

The Wasps almost doubled their lead on the stroke of half time when Darren Young went close from the edge of the box but his effort was well saved by the keeper.

Alloa started the second half strongly, creating a number of chances to seal victory soon after the restart.

The hosts' best chance came in the 89th minute when Jamie Pollock tried his luck from 20 yards out but his effort was caught by Alloa stopper Scott Bain.
