Gordon cheers Alloa

A Ben Gordon header in first-half injury-time was enough for Alloa to claim a 1-0 win at East Stirling.

Alloa took the initiative early on and Graeme Holmes should have done better when he volleyed at East Stirling goalkeeper Callum Antell from close-range.

The visitors had even better chances to take the lead when first an inswinging corner from Mark Docherty was headed wide by Darren Young and then a Kevin Cawley header missed from six-yards.

Paul Hartley's side finally made their dominance pay when Gordon headed home from a Ryan Harding delivery just before half-time.

East Stirling almost levelled five minutes in to the second-half when Kevin Turner's right-footed effort was parried away by Scott Bain and Steven Jackson rattled the bar from 20 yards.

John Coughlin's side had the better of the second-half but could not find a way to level the game.
