Forfar's unbeaten start to the League season came to an end as Alloa completed a Cup and League double.
The Wasps thoroughly deserved their win as a sorry Forfar side failed to test their keeper once in the 90 minutes.
Alloa dominated from the start and twice Forfar had to clear off their line as the visitors bossed proceedings.
The breakthrough came in the thirty sixth minute when Robert Sloan played a clever free-kick forward into the box and Ross Hamilton dived full-length to get the faintest of touches to head the ball past the outstretched fingers of keeper Sean Murdoch.
Two minutes into the second half Alloa were inches away from doubling their lead when Kieran McAnespie turned on the ball and thumped in a 25-yard shot which beat the keeper but hit the outside of the post.
Darren Gribben could have levelled for Forfar when he broke into the Alloa box but a perfectly timed tackle from Stuart Malcolm denied him.
John Grant wrapped things up for Alloa with nine minutes left when he pounced on a loose ball in the Forfar box and thumped home a 12-yard shot through a crowd of players.
Alloa thoroughly deserved their victory while Forfar were left to rue a missed opportunity of three points which would have taken them to the top of the table.
