Forfar got back to winning ways with a clinical victory over lowly Alloa.

The visitors had actually started brightly and had most of the early play, but Forfar never looked back after opening the scoring after 26 minutes. Paul Tosh hit the by -line and sent a cross to Jay Stein, who controlled and fired a shot which cannoned back off the foot of the post. The ball broke to David McClune and he kept his head to drill a shot into the net from 12 yards.

McClune almost added a second goal when he forced the keeper Gary McGlynn to dive to turn his shot on to the post.

Alloa should have equalised when defender Eddy Forest slipped in front of his own goal, but striker Stuart Callaghan blasted his shot high over the ball.

Right on the stroke of half time Forfar doubled their league after laying siege to the Alloa goal. Stein saw his shot cleared off the line before the ball broke to Paul Shields, who thumped the ball into the net through a crowd of players in front of goal.

Forfar looked to have wrapped things up five minutes after half time when the Alloa keeper lost a cross ball under pressure. from Shields. The ball fell perfectly for Tosh, who headed home from six yards.

Alloa scored a consolation goal after 56 minutes when Andy Brown hit an angled drive home from the edge of the box.
