Gretna went 11 points clear at the top of the table after a comprehensive victory over basement club Alloa.

Once James Grady had fired a tremendous 20-yard curling drive into the top corner for the opener in the 19th minute, there was no looking back for the league leaders.

Ryan Baldacchino almost added a second three minutes later when he played a neat one-two with Grady and smashed in a low shot that John Ovenstone cleared off the line.

And Steve Tosh flashed a 20-yard half-volley just over the bar before Ryan McGuffie cracked in a 30-yard screamer that ricocheted off the woodwork.

Top scorer Kenny Deuchar climbed to head the second from a Gavin Skelton cross in the 39th minute.

Alloa's Ross Hamilton almost pulled one back just after the break with a 20-yard drive that flew just wide.

But Gretna should have added a third when McGuffie headed wide from a great position in the 64th minute.

He made amends six minutes later when David Bingham chipped to the far post and he headed home.

Mark Birch completed the scoring with six minutes to go when his wicked cross-cum- shot from a narrow angle flew over keeper Gary McGlynn's head and in off the back post.
